The Lost Symbol Book Review

The Lost Symbol
by Dan Brown

I just finished reading the newest installment from Dan Brown, The Lost Symbol and I just wanted to give my thoughts on the book.

First and foremost, the book was an excellent book. This book definitely runs in the pack with the likes of The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. This story was very well put together and the twist at the end, I actually didn't espect with the antagonist, Katherine, and Peter. The thing I figured out from about Chapter 2 or 3 was the place where the "Lost Word" was hidden.

The book did however seem to go with the same flow as The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons... It had that same feel to it. However, Brown always keeps the mind going with visual description that bring vivid pictures to your mind. The Epilogue painted a very vivid and clear picture of Washington, D.C. with the description of the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument and the sunrise and sunset of the day... I could just see it and feel the cool, brisk air just reading the words; Dan Brown is an artist and his art tools are his words.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, especially Dan Brown fans. I will give this work 4.3 out of 5 stars... It kept me interested all the way through to the end and I was able to play a movie in my head while reading. The worst part about the book was its similarites with other Brown works.

*On a side note, Dan Brown did a lot of research for this book. Being a Freemason of South Carolina, Lodge 132 in Fair Play, SC, I noticed a lot of what was in this book was fairly on par with some of the rituals and ceremonies we do. However, some of it was exagerated a bit. Impressive work by Dan Brown.*

Read the first two maybe now I'll pick it up since you gave it a 4.3! what I want to know is, what could Brown have done to make it a 4.4! I don't know how you do that Freemasonry stuff man, I've met some family of a few, all that ceremony! I got too much other stuff todo. Anyway, I've always wanted to ask more about it, some other time!

Zig zag pattern man, run a zig zag WH, to avoid the bead.

Take care

I gave it a 4.3 because of it's similarities to the other books Brown has written and a striking resemblence to National Treasure. Had it been the first Dan Brown book I read, I would have given it a 5 out of 5. It is a great book with a great story line. I am happy at the amount of research and time he put into this book. I am wondering if he will write another book after this one because if not, then, I'd say he will be remembered as one of the best ever.

I see I see, that makes sense. I read Davinci and Angels and Demons each in less than a week which is the fastest I've ever read any book. I think it was all the superstitious history I learned being raised Roman Catholic, Brown investigated, and like you said "researched well" the man can pull you in!

Thanks again for this, and for teaching me about certain aspects of blogs and hubpages I overlooked!
