Odyssey White Hot XG #9

Odyssey White Hot XG#9

Odyssey putters have been around since at least 1991 but I cannot verify the date exactly. The Odyssey line of putters are the most used and most endorsed putters on the PGA Professional Golf Tour. The most well-known professional to use Odyssey putters is Phil Mickelson; he is a very talented golfer who sometimes takes way too many chances to impress when he should just play a bit conservative, which costs him from time to time and quite often. After reading an article by Phil Mickelson on why he chose to use Odyssey putters, I decided to give one a try myself, a version of the prototype putter that Mickelson used to win the Masters in 2004, called the Odyssey White Hot XG #9 putter.

The Odyssey White Hot XG #9 putter is a heel shafted putter that comes in varying lengths, standard. I purchased the 33 inch model from Callaway Golf in January 2007 and have been using it ever since. The standard grip that Odyssey puts on the putter is good for beginners and even experience golfers as it is easy to grip and maintain a stable, steady grip throughout the stroke through the ball. The white hot polymer insert allows for more forgiveness on miss-hits and allows for more accurate and consistent putts time after time. The White Hot XG #9 is by far the best putter that I have used and I have used varieties from Taylor Made to Nike to even Scotty Cameron putters. After purchasing the White Hot XG #9 putter, I noticed a substantial improvement in my putting and less putts being his offline. The putts have been way more consistent and I have yet to change putters since early 2007 when I bought this one. I recommend any putter from Odyssey, especially those from the White Hot XG series but I strongly recommend this one and give it a 9.8 out of 10 and I only deducted because the original putter cover that comes with the putter easily falls off. The club retailed at $119 when I purchased it and currently retails for $99 at http://www.odysseygolf.com... If you are in the market for a new putter, look no further than the Odyssey White Hot XG #9 putter.

Look for more golf club reviews coming soon… In the meantime, check out my other hubs at http://hubpages.com/profile/whcobb and at http://hubpages.com/hub/Golf-for-Christmas ... Enjoy!
